Spirit Dance

Spiritdance

Moving from within; dancing from the heart

A 1 hr movement session to help you get into your body, and access vital energies,  using 5 sacred rhythms which  inspire our energies to move from the core and come to a place of pure stillness. No dance ability or previous experience necessary ~ just be guided by your own inner voice.

A guided warm-up allows you to gently tune into your body and breath ~ whilst letting go of any residue tensions and restless emotions.  This is then followed by free dance ~ moving to your own Spirit  and mood ~  using a wide selection of enchanting, liberating and entrancing beats , increasing vitality and nourishing the energy body.  The session ends with an extended relaxation session where you can find the joy of pure stillness, relaxation and inner peace.  The session is derived from the inspiring work of Gabrielle Roth.

Monthly sessions in the Dairy Hall at Treworra ~ please contact us for details.

About the teacher.

Julie has been fascinated by bodywork, health and dance as far back as she can remember ~ taking Contemporary Dance classes whilst at school, at University in Brighton, and at Pineapple Dance Studios once back in London, her home at that time.  In 1987 she spent a year studying at the Laban Centre for Movement and Dance and in 1990 went on to qualify as a Fitness instructor offering dance as a form of exercise.  This path was short-lived because of family circumstances  but Julie was then introduced to Yoga in 1999 whilst dealing with respiratory disease in the family and having discovered the health benefits of Yoga breathing for people with asthma and other breathing disorders.  She instantly became a keen practitioner and discovered the immense power of ease and well-being that it brings with it.

This then led her on a transformational journey through the wisdom of the ancient Yogic teachings which included embarking on a teacher training course. Qualifying with the BWY, Julie began teaching in 2003, concentrating in particular on the therapeutic aspects of Yoga, and sharing the benefits of breath and bodywork for improved health and well-being, as well as stillness of mind. Discovering the writings of Gabrielle Roth in 2005 took the journey one step further in understanding how we can truly inhabit the body, this vehicle for our soul, through movement and conscious breathing. “Life is the path to enlightenment.  We only have to live it ....” Gabrielle Roth, Maps to Ecstacy (1989)
